tough-lass:

I want to talk a little bit about Emma’s face in this moment.

When Regina is saying this sentence, Emma’s look is full with shame. For a moment there it looks like she feels bad about letting Zelena trick her into losing her magic, but then when she is looking at her father it seams to me like something completely different.

She looks at her father but then immediately looks away because she feels that if he would have known what she did he would have been disappointed with her. But if you think about it for a second, David would never be disappointed of his daughter saving a man’s life. If there is someone that could understand what it’s like to risk everything to save a life it’s David. His own philosophy is to help people in a time of need, sure he could have understand that when the situation was presented to her Emma had no choice but to save Hook’s life.

But Emma is feeling guilty in front of her father all the same, the only reason she would feel like that would be because in her mind she did a selfish act, because she feels that she placed her own desire above her father’s. One should ask himself/herself why would saving the life of other person would be considered as a selfish act?

And this is exactly the point, Emma is feeling guilty not because of her actions, but because of the reason she was doing them. When Hook almost died Emma couldn’t bear the thought of losing him. “Hook come back to me"  was what Emma was saying. In this moment when she needed to make a choice to save his life, Emma was thinking of Emma. She didn’t think about her family or the town, all she could think about was the thought of not having this man in her life. When Regina is asking her “how did this happen” Emma had to face the guilt of putting her needs first above her family’s and to face the implications of what she considered a selfish act.

This demonstrates once again Emma’s feelings for Hook. She was putting his life first and she was feeling guilty because she just discovered Hook was indeed her weak spot, just like Zelena predicted.

Me too!

Wow. Are the BA SQers resorting to going on anon and calling people homophobic? Not to hijack this post but, this is going to be an open letter to the BA SQers. Personally I have nothing against SQ as a ship. I don’t ship it but I don’t care if other people do. What I do care about is the small minority a-holes who are using the ship to promote their own brand of homophobia and misogyny and trying to shove it down the writers/creators/actors and the rest of the fandom’s throats.

Do you even know what that word - homophobia means?

Homophobic means you don’t understand how a man could love a man, or a woman could love a woman. Or how someone who is bisexual could have sexual or romantic attraction to either biological gender. Or how someone could be born with a mental gender that is different from their anatomical one. Or how some people just aren’t into sex and could live rather happily without it. It means you hate on the entire LGBTQA community because you don’t understand it. It also means that you associate LGBTQA with unhealthy stereotypes and tropes.  Like straight people who are secretly gay for one another. Or people who hate and have tried to kill one another are secretly lusting after each other even though both are canonically straight.

Furthermore, BA SQers (I have to leave out the good people in the SQ fandom who just want to enjoy their ship and don’t attack anyone, I know you guys are in there but we don’t see you because the BAs in your ship are the loudest voices), anyways the BA SQers are insisting that OQ and CS are fanservice when they themselves are OPENLY BEGGING for a form queer baiting and fanservice essentially.

Queer baiting is a trope commonly used and abused within media that has two straight characters or one straight and one gay character, engage in a moment of passion with each other. Usually television shows do this for the shock value of a male on male kiss or a female on female kiss, etc. After which the show usually back pedals with one or both characters proclaiming to be reaffirmed in their straightness and move on.

To have two canonically straight characters, suddenly and without basis for any attraction or romantic feelings (Angry stares and tension filled silences are not evidence for sexual attraction, they are meant to be dramatic pauses and showing of adversaries, not a pixie dust never lies or an “And I will win it” declaration) for one another suddenly declare love/lust/sexual feelings for the other would be queer baiting at its finest. This, forcing of the issue, and using unhealthy tropes and stereotypes that BA SQer’s are trying to force on the show has been a REAL issue the LGBTQA community has been fighting in media for years and here BA SQers are starting a movement for it to happen on OUAT and proclaiming it to be about representation.

It’s not about representation. Its about trying to assert control over a show that you have no control over because you’re upset that your ship isn’t happening instead of shrugging your shoulders and running off to enjoy FF and fanart where your ship lives.

Do I want an LGBTQA person or persons on the show? Yes. We’ve had Mulan who I’m certain is bisexual with falling in love with both Phillip and Aurora. But we could use more certainly. But taking two well established characters who have:

1. Tried to kill each other in the past.
2. Have slowly become civil towards each other
3. Share a child based off of a phony closed adoption (the legality of it is suspect considering it was Rumple who helped procure his own grandson for Regina, as someone who can see the future, how did he not see that one coming?).
4. Are both well established to have loving and intimate relationships with men and no actual evidence of any same-sex leanings.

Just for the sake of so-called representation is queer baiting. It’s not representing the complexity and beauty of love in all its forms. It’s taking a barely civil relationship and upping the ante to where these two women would be entirely toxic for one another. I love Regina. And I love Emma. Rewatching S1 I don’t see anything that shows underlying sexual tension. There is anger, resentment, and hatred between them throughout S1. If you’re reading anything sexual or romantic into that, then you need to get your idea of healthy sexual/romantic relationships checked out by a psychological professional.

Do you really want a barely civil partnership - that’s really only a partnership when both parties benefit (ie: saving Henry) - to be the representation of LGBTQA on the show? Do you want THAT to be the take home message? That there has to be a quid pro quo for both parties to be able to even work together? That is the definition of unhealthy. I mean hell in employee training we’re taught that any sexual/romantic quid pro quo in a working relationship is sexual harassment and grounds for becoming unemployed. That’s all Emma and Regina have is a working relationship when it comes to Henry and the town. They may be slowly becoming friends but that’s because REGINA is becoming a better person. She still is verbally abusive to Emma, and Emma’s family and to the guy that Emma is falling in love with. Even if Emma were bisexual, do you honestly think she’d want to be involved with someone who openly ridicules her parents and her? I don’t even need to mention that she’s Em’s step-grandmother, which Regina pointed out in the s3b return with “I married into it” when talking about Snow’s family crown.

What’s more homophobic to force the issue so that a toxic fanon ship can become canon and distort and misrepresent an entire sexual identity group of people or is it to want the writers and creators to bring in an LGBTQA character or characters that are done in the right way with the beauty and complexity of love displayed in the same way that the other canon couples are shown? True representation would introduce LGBTQA characters in a way that would show the parallel between them as a couple with Snowing, with CS, with Rumbelle, with OQ and Philora. Especially with Philora and Snowing all of which are ESTABLISHED, true love couples.

Do you, really want true LGBTQA representation or do you just want your ship to happen and are trying to find any reason to goad and coerce the writers and creators into it? Are you defining yourself as rape culture activists? Remember how you guys have tried to say Hook is advocating rape culture by getting in other people’s personal space and making people uncomfortable. What the fuck do you think YOU’RE doing when you invade the actors and creators’ social media accounts slamming them to make your ship happen, slinging hate and trying to force them into making SQ happen. You’re promoting rape culture by trying to take away the writers and creators freedom of choice to do with their show what THEY want. You want to take their choice away. (And if you say that you just want them to make the right choice - I’m pretty sure rapists would agree with you that they just want their victims to make the right choice and lay down and take it). You want to sling hate at actors who are doing their job and reading lines someone else wrote for them. You call them names and tell them hateful things because they openly ship their characters with someone else. YOU are promoting rape culture by trying to take the choices away from others. Not Hook. Not Regina. Not even Neal for god’s sake. YOU, BA SQers, you are the problem, not the show, not the canon ships. Not the lack of LGBTQA characters. You, who are trying to take artistic choices away from people because of your ship not being canon. You who scream and cry that other ships are fanservice yet you turn around and ask to be fed from the hand you’ve already bitten with your hate and slander.

Think about the good people in your ship. The ship and let ship people in the SQ fandom, I now talk to you. Do you really want to represent your ship with hate? Do you want everyone to regard your ship with disdain because of a few bad apples? Speak up. Don’t let these jerks control your ship. Silence is as good as permission. If you see hate from BA SQers, unfollow them, message them and tell them that they’re poorly representing the ship and should stop and think about their actions.

I call out hate when I see it. I don’t hate the BA SQers or any SQer for that matter. I’m frustrated with the BAs of the ship and their behavior. I won’t hate on them, I’m calling them out on flawed logic. I’m calling them out on their hate slinging, hypocritical ways. I do not hate them. I honestly don’t. I want them to see that their actions do not fit their rhetoric. If they wish to have a rhetoric about inclusion and representation, I’m all for that, but the motivations, intentions, and arguments to back up their claims do not hold up more than the Titanic post ice-berg.

"You who scream and cry that other ships are fanservice yet you turn around and ask to be fed from the hand you’ve already bitten with your hate and slander."

THIS. This line and everything else in here. Just…this.

MARVEL AND STOMP OUT BULLYING’S VARIANT COVERS ENCOURAGE YOU TO STOP BEING SUCH A JERK
By Chris Sims
Superhero comics have always come down pretty hard against bullying, whether it’s Superman sticking up for the little guy in 1938 or Marvel’s more direct approach to having nerdy weaklings suddenly turn into super-strong crime-fighters who turn the tables and beat the living crap out of the bad guys. Captain America, Spider-Man and the Hulk all follow that classic formula, and heck, the X-Men are an entire school made up of an oppressed minority that spends most of their time fighting robots made of racism.
So yeah, Marvel is, historically speaking, pretty dead set against bullying. That’s why it’s no surprise that they’re teaming up with the STOMP Out Bullying organization next month for a series of variant covers designed to raise awareness of bullying and help prevent it. The results are some pretty great covers that range from charming to genuinely hilarious.

"Jen and I used to get confused for each other, when we first started out in the business, and she was brunette and I had long hair. And we were confused for each other to the extent that we separately, having not made this agreement before we met, jokingly did interviews as each other on red carpets and signed each others headshots and things because we both, you know, were supportive of each others work and thought it’d be funny and were tired of trying to explain to people that we were two separate actresses.” { x }

"After wrapping Guardians of the Galaxy I was very homesick and I was coming home to my wife and my son, who at the time was 13 months old. My wife told me ‘Hey, listen there’s a chance he may not recognize you and he may be a little shy’ and so I came in there, and he just sat right up and had this big smile on his face. He started saying ‘Daddy, daddy, daddy!’ and I just started to cry. He saw the tears in my eyes and started doing bits to make me laugh and that just made me cry more."
